Hollywood Take Note
Posted by Nostalgiaholic | on September 10, 2008

It’s amazing what you can create with a handycam and a couple of drunken Visual Arts Students… I’ve scored two epic homade trailers offa Youtube that really made my morning, both featuring the legendary fruit-scarfing, spook-chasing sprite Pac Man. One takes the Namco icon in a decidedly Dark Knight direction, while the other takes the edgier view of the Ghosts running from a voracious monster. I’d go see both in theaters, no lie, double feature baby !!!
Let Us Pray

I love how mainstream geek art is nowadays !!! Brilliantly-talented artists the world over have sculpted their nerdy and nostalgic passions in a variety of media, including (get this) stained glass !!! The hallowed images of our past obsessions now grace window frames, both secular and sacred. I’m diggin it !!! Check out DeputyDog’s Stained Glass Geek Roundup.
25 Years of TMNT
Posted by Nostalgiaholic | on August 7, 2008
Can you believe that in a handful of months it will be the 25th anniversary of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Eastman and Laird’s legendary nunchak-spinning, pizza-eating, tagline-spewing childhood heroes aren’t teens anymore. In fact they’ve probably given up pizza for beer, and the sewers for their girlfriend’s two-bedroom apartment. Skateboard over to the Official TMNT Anniversary Site to get the goods. Remember when you could shout “Cowabunga!!!” without fear of being labeled a little “too special”? I do.
What a Bombshell !!!

Like Nintendo ? How’s about 1942 ? And Street Fighter as well ? You’re just the kind of Joystick Jockey that the t-Shirt messiahs over at Meat Bun need. Drool at their exclusive new design featuring a WW2-era Cammy from Street Fighter 2 and the iconic bomber from Nintendo’s thumb-busting arcade game. Never played 1942? Fire up the ‘ol NES or play it online HERE!

Chris Nolan’s masterpiece “The Dark Knight” is getting rave reviews, and will undoubtedly break box-office records of some sort. For everyone who forgot to buy their tickets in advance, fire up the ‘ol VCR and re-live The Original Movie… I’ll see the rest of you in theaters.
8 Movies From the 80s…

…that quietly changed our childhood.

If you grew up in the 80s, you’ll probably dig this article at Hypernation which reminisces over classics such as The Flight of the Navigator (personal fav), Weird Science, The Dark Crystal, and… well just go read it yourself.

Farewell Mr. Conductor
Posted by Nostalgiaholic | on June 23, 2008
I flipped on the news this morning, and along with truckloads of bad news from the Middle East, massive layoffs in Ontario, and the rising price of gas, I was devastated to learn that “America’s Fastest Rising Fool(e)” George Carlin had died. The brilliant standup comedian and social satirist was famous for his wit, pointed views on… well everything, and became infamous for his “Seven Dirty Words” sketch (WARNING NSFW !!!). He was the first host of Saturday Night Live, a Catholic Cardinal in Dogma (1999) and the “Excellent” Rufus from the Bill ‘n Ted movies. Of course Jess ‘an I will always remember him as Mr. Conductor from Shining Time Station. He’s ‘hangin with Buddy Christ right now… He was 71 years young…
Black Dynamite… Sucka !!!
Posted by Nostalgiaholic | on June 10, 2008
If like me, you’re a fan of 1970s ghetto-fabulous flicks like Shaft (1971), Superfly (1972), and Black Fist (1975), then you are gonna dig this. Director Scott Sanders is bringing all that blurry, violent, foul-mouthed, un-PC Blaxploitation madness back to the big screen with Black Dynamite! I’m not sure if it’s tribute or spoof, all I know is that bad mutha’s got a slick mustache and nunchucks… and knows how to use ‘em against the man.
And If you’re new to the genre, pimp on down to Blaxploitation.com to get the goods.
